The first recap for my #Juneabration was my husband’s 40th birthday. This was a hard one because my husband really didn’t want a birthday party but I wanted him to have an awesome one! To keep things easy, I kept most of the plans secret from him. I only asked him for a guest list (since one of his requirements was “I want my friends, not your friends there”), did he want the kids there (“yes”) and what he wanted to eat (he was open.) With that in mind, I began planning a party to remember.
One thing about me is that I LOVE and ADORE personalization! I want things that are unique and different. I like inspiration but always need to have my own personal twist. Second thing, I have great ideas but especially for this effort, I needed a team to execute them. You’ll see both of these throughout this post.
Here are all the details:
I ordered the design for the invite from Fruit Avenue Designs on Etsy. Since I have to be special, I did ask her to revise the color scheme to fit more along with the blue I was thinking of. She made the change with no change in price and was very easy to work with. I’d use her again in a heartbeat!
I had the invitations printed at Costco. I choose Costco because they had a quick turnaround and were cost effective. The quality of the invitations was pretty nice; printing for a return address was complimentary and the envelopes were included.
I enlisted A Sweet Touch by Rachelle Grace to help me bring the vision to life. . One thing that I did add to spice up the invitations was add mustache envelope seals. Rachelle Grace took that and ran with it.
What she came up with pulled together the invitation, colors my husband liked and all my requests in a perfect way. The centerpieces featured him front and center while the height still allowed for people to talk with each other across the tables (something that was important to me)!
OMG! Is all I can say about the food. My husband said that his favorite food was Macaroni and Cheese (which I didn’t know) and I’d seen a M&C bar done as a chef station so this is what I was looking for. I enlisted Chef Mandi from Chewsy Lovers with my desire (and budget) and her team brought it to life with passion. She created a menu that everyone loved! Seriously, people are still raving about the food.
All four flavors of Mac & Cheese had their own distinct profiles. The chicken was so moist and well seasoned (without salt!) And the vegetables were vegan friendly. I just can’t rave about how pleased I was with the food. Most importantly, my husband loved it.
I kept it very simple with the favors and ordered mini-cookies from Sweet Cakes by Julie to match the theme. I packed each individually and tied it with a tag assembled by me and my little helpers the night before. You know how excited 5 years get to glue and punch out tags?!
For entertainment, we had a photobooth and children’s craft area staffed with a professional sitter. We were just so thrilled to see all of our friends and family who came out to celebrate with us that talking took over most of the evening! I had planned for dancing and games but that didn’t happen. At the end of the night, we had an awesome time. Here are a few more pictures from the evening.
