Welcome to Atlanta! The home of the 2018 College Football National Championship game at Mercedes Benz Stadium.
As you might have guessed, my husband is a huge football fan (SEC all day!) and is so excited that the College Football Playoff events are here in Atlanta for 2018. Honestly, I’m pretty excited myself but for different reasons than he is.
There’s just so much anticipation in the air with the National Championship game! Consider all the College Football Playoff events that fan can participate in: the AT&T Playoff Playlist Live Concerts, Extra Yard 5K, Playoff Fan Central and Taste of the Championship. And just for the teachers in the Atlanta area, there’s an extra special day, the Extra Yard for Teachers Summit and Lounge.
It doesn’t matter if you’re cheering on the Dawgs or Roll Tide, music is a universal language! Taking place at Centennial Olympic Park, the FREE AT&T Playoff Playlist Live is just one of the gifts to the fans who support college football all year long. Saturday night, Jason Derulo and Charlie Puth will perform along with Lizzo. While Sunday night, The Chainsmokers, Bebe Rexha and Spencer Ludwig will grace the stage. The Game Day Monday show will be headlined by Darius Rucker with opening act Brett Young!
Did I mention these are all FREE concerts? And there will be live music and ESPN broadcasts during the day too? If you’re going to be in the area before or after any of the other events make sure to drop in and see them all. The doors open at 4:00 on Saturday and Sunday; 12:00 pm on Monday.
Even if you really want to go but can’t make it, there’s going to be a livestream broadcast of the Saturday and Sunday night performances at www.att.net/attplayoffplaylist.
College Football Playoff Event for the Whole Family: Playoff Fan Central
The other big event that my whole family, husband and the kids are looking forward to is the Playoff Fan Central. Here’s the event description and tell me what any family wouldn’t love about it!
A 300,000 square-foot interactive experience, Playoff Fan Central will give fans the opportunity to be a part of championship week while creating memories that last a lifetime. The three-day, family-friendly event features games, youth sports clinics, pep rallies and exhibits celebrating college football and its history. Playoff Fan Central will also include sponsor activations, special guest appearances and autograph signings.
Yes, my family is very excited to participate in this event. Games and pep rallies are right up the kids alley. My husband is actually a bigger college game watcher than NFL so he’s going to love remembering the moments and sharing them with our kids in the history section.
The event will run from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It’s totally affordable family-friendly event. Tickets start at $8 per person. Kids 12 and under are free with ticketed adults.
Playoff Fan Central Giveaway
Just comment below and let me know who you’d like to bring along with you by 10:00 am on Saturday, Jan 7. Be sure to leave a valid email because if you win, I’ll be sending it at 10:05 and you’ll have until 11:00 am to let me know you’ll be sure to make it!
Taste of the Championship
On the other hand, I’m thrilled to participate in the Taste of the Championship! Sunday night Atlanta’s most notable restaurants and breweries will show off their best while celebrating teachers from across the United States at the Georgia Aquarium. This has all my loves: amazing food, the GA Aquarium AND supporting teachers!
For alumni in town for the game, this is most certainly an event to be at! It’s a party with a purpose and chance to see one of our favorite treasures in Atlanta. All the event proceeds go to support the College Football Playoff Foundation and its Extra Yard for Teachers platform.
I promise I’ll be over on Instagram at Kendra.Pierson sharing all of my favorites on Sunday night.
Saturday, I’ll also participate in the Extra Yard for Teachers Summit and Lounge. You can read all about why I’m so excited here. But this is another event that’s open to teacher’s and their families. They just ask that you register in advance to make sure for security and they can count on the number of people who will be attending.
What to Know Before You Go to the College Football National Championship Events
- Marta, streetcar, cabs, Lyft, Uber and just good old fashioned walking is going to be best. If you attend any of the events above, they’re all conveniently located near the stadium so bring your Fit-Bit and walking shoes.
- Leave the big bags behind! Security teams are going to do a great job of protecting everyone so let’s do our part and leave the big bags behind.
