You may have seen the advertisements (or hopefully you follow me and saw my visit on Instagram) but however you’ve came to wonder about Candytopia, I’m here to announce that Candytopia Atlanta has officially opened. Here are all the details you need to have the absolute best visit Candytopia, no matter if you visit in Atlanta or Candytopia Mall of America.
What is Candytopia?
Candytopia is a larger-than-life interactive art installation and full sensory experience. Candytopia Atlanta comes after successful runs in Santa Monica, San Francisco and New York. Candytopia Atlanta is located at EDENS Lenox Marketplace. Each location is slightly unique and brings has its own local elements. Candytopia Atlanta features a tribute to Ray Charles, a giant Georgia peach and even portraits of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Candytopia Atlanta opens February 8 while Candytopia Mall of America will open March 2019. I can’t wait to visit the Mall of America location because while there are some cool features in the Atlanta one, I want to see what the unique details are in store for Minnesota. I’m pretty sure that they’re should be some Peanuts influences and some homage to the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
What to expect at Candytopia?
If you’re like me, you want to know what to expect going in someplace. I’m going to let you know that it’s worth a sweet surprise. Overall, it’s an immersive candy inspired performance art gallery with you as the staring performer. The art pieces range from whimsical to more traditional. You’ll recognize more than a few from popular culture. The fun thing is that each installation has its own candy guide. The candy guide tells all the different candies that were used in creating the piece, candy count (the number of individual pieces of candy used to construct it), number of hours and just for fun, the grams of sugar in each piece!
Can I go to Candytopia with my kids? By myself? On a Date Night?
One of the coolest things is that Candytopia is such a fun place that you can go by yourself or with friends. If you have an open moment on your schedule, then it’s a great place to pass by the afternoon. You will smile and laugh. And you don’t have to worry about having a friend to take pictures. There are team members stationed throughout who can help you get the best angles. They know it’s an Instagrammable place and help out.
Your kids are more than welcome to hang out at Candytopia as well. My sons had a ball and were overwhelmed with delight. It’s a family friendly place and will bring out your inner child. Because it will bring out your inner child, it’s a great place for a date night. Taking yourself too seriously is difficult when you’re on a sugar high.
What to wear to Candytopia?
Dress for your comfort and style. Candytopia is a serious Instagramable heaven so you will take more than a few pictures. It’s an immersive experience and you might find yourself swinging or sliding, flying with pigs or even swimming through marshmallows. One tip: Don’t wear green to Candytopia. You will thank me for this because at least one picture uses a green screen.
How long do you spend at Candytopia?
According to the website, your visit to Candytopia should be just over an hour. In reality, I can see it being a little bit more based upon how you go and who you go with. Because each ticket is based on a timed entry, so I don’t believe it will be a crowded space. Your kids will have a ball in certain rooms and they might want to spend a little more time in certain rooms. My sons were in love with the confetti room.
Is there candy to eat at Candytopia?
Yes, and it’s the good kind! Starting with the entry area, each room has a treasure chest of candy that you can choose from all themed to the room. From Lindt chocolate truffles to Jet Puff Marshmallows, you’ll be able to find at least one taste that you’ll love. And the best part is that the allergens are clearly marked for each candy and they’re all nut-free.
What else should I know about visiting Candytopia?
- Candytopia Atlanta will run from February 8 to June 2. Entry is ticketed and tickets should be booked online in advance. Tickets are $28 for adults and $20 for children 4 – 12. You can purchase tickets here.
- Candytopia Mall of America will open mid-March.
- Download the Candytopia App before you go. I didn’t realize that I needed to until I was there. They do have free wifi but it took a while to download. You can experience it without the app but it is a fun way to take pictures and engage with the background.
