Hi there! Nice to meet you, I’m Kendra and welcome to my home on the Internet.
Kendra in 30 seconds:
Love. Learn. Travel. If you ask anyone who knows me, chances are these would be among the things they’d say. I LOVE my family, I believe in always LEARNing something new and I TRAVEL whenever I can. As an (active and engaged!) alumna of Spelman College, it makes sense. I make ‘A Choice to Change the World’ whenever I can with organizations that support women and children. From Mocha Moms to Junior League of Atlanta, I use the skills I’ve gained to connect, support and empower others.
I’m an Atlanta-based freelance writer, travel and lifestyle blogger, wife and mother of two homeschooled boys. In my free time, I’m a Social Media Manger for Junior League of Atlanta, member of Atlanta Mocha Moms, the Spelman College alumnae association, love to learn new things, make connections and choose to spend my time with organizations that support women and children.
Kendra Pierson, Atlanta Family Travel Blogger
Before I was a blogger, a mom or a wife, I was a researcher, looking up facts and details for my family. I became the family-designated researcher (even extended family!) at 16 for travel. My mother gave me a love of travel. Now I share this love of travel with my family.
I started my blog in 2013 on March 4 (you can read the first post there – but please be nice!) in an Intensive Care hospital room with the goal to provide information that helps make life a little easier, better and more thoughtful as I share my tips for families.
I believe in paying it forward and have great people share things with me that made me think and have made my life better. Some of the lessons were these huge “Aha!” moments but more of them were just the stories of their lives. I hope you’ll find the same type of content here.
Professionally, I have more than fifteen years of health communications, marketing and strategic planning/research experience. I am also Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and used to spend 50% of my time planning meetings for clients around the US. And I was lucky enough to bring my family along for most of that ride! I earned an MA in Media and Public Affairs from The George Washington University and a BA from Spelman College.
In addition to my blog, I regularly write for TravelingMom, 365AtlantaFamily and freelance for family of hyper-local lifestyle publications. Previously, I have also contributed to Congressional Black Caucus Foundation online community, The Village and as well as others.
KendraPierson.com (formerly known as HeadbandForToday) is a lifestyle blog where I share my life as a wife, mother of two boys and stepmother to a young adult daughter. My family loves an adventure, technology and life-long learning and I’m sharing our take on it here. Life isn’t perfect, so my blog covers an honest experience of our life.
All content on my site is written by me (unless otherwise stated) and is truly reflective of my opinions, experiences and how my family uses products in our daily life. All the brands or companies you see on this site aligns with the values/beliefs and any information I share is honest and accurate.
