If you keep up with me, you know that I love being a Mocha Mom. (Here’s the link where I share all about it…) Mocha Moms is a support group for mothers of color with chapters all over the national. We provide activities for mothers as well as children and families. Our mission is to support and meet the needs of mothers.
One of the greatest things Mocha Moms has provided me with is the confidence to know that however I choose to parent it’s okay. Seriously as a mom, you’re kind of wondering where the manual is. Guess what? We all got one with our babies in the delivery room; YOUR baby just didn’t. No seriously, we all know there isn’t one but you create one for your family as you go along. That’s one of the keys I learned as a Mocha mom.
I love being a Mocha because it’s given me a world of women who have supported my family over the years. My children have playmates, I have friends; my husband has even watched football (on his own) with other Mocha dads.
It’s also provided me with a great network of resources in terms of parenting, recommendations for everything from plumbers to babysitters and doctors. I can’t tell you the value of being a Mocha because it’s saved me tons of money in addition to the things I’ve received like movie screenings, promotional products, temp jobs, etc.
How can you join in all this awesomeness? Come out and learn more about the Atlanta Chapter. We have several events coming up in the next few weeks that I’d love to invite you to. Just comment below or shoot me an email and I’ll make sure to connect with you.
In the interest of full disclosure, I need to share that my newest headband is Co-President of the Atlanta Chapter for the 2014 year but my love for Mocha Moms was born when I joined in 2009 with a 6 month old. 🙂
